1. How and why do I register for TheApple?
- Click "Register" in the upper right hand corner of the home page. It's free, easy and quick!
- Fill out your profile information. If you don't have time to finish it all, you can complete it later.
- To validate you as a member of our community, you will receive an email to the address you submitted with your profile that you will need to confirm.
- Once confirmed as a member, you'll be able to access all of the information we have to offer and contribute your own ideas.
2. How do I update my profile?
- Make sure you are logged into TheApple account
- Click on the "My Profile" link in the upper right corner of any screen on TheApple
- Click on the "My Full Bio" tab
- Place your mouse over any information you want to change and an "Edit" link will appear; Click on the link and then edit the information
3. How do I make my profile "private"?
- Follow the instructions for updating your profile in Question 1
- In the "Personal Information" section, set the "Personal Privacy Info" field to private
- In the "Professional Information" section, set the "Professional Privacy Info" field to private
4. How do I manage my e-mail subscriptions?
- Follow the instructions for updating your profile in Question 1
- Check or uncheck the appropriate boxes in the "Account Settings" section to subscribe or unsubscribe from the various TheApple mailings
5. How do I change my primary e-mail address?
- Follow the instructions for updating your profile in Question 1
- You must first add a second e-mail address by clicking on the "Add Another Email" link in the "Account Settings" section
- Click on the activation link in the confirmation e-mail that was sent to your new e-mail address
- Once your new e-mail is activated, return to the "Account Settings" and on the "Make Primary" link next to your new e-mail address
6. How do I post a job?
- Community members can post up to five jobs for free at http://www.theapple.com/jobs/employers/select.
- Jobs remain active for 30 days. For more information, see http://www.theapple.com/news/5113-free-jobs-posting-faq.
7. How do I watch a video?
- You must have the latest version of Flash Player installed as a plugin in your web browser in order to watch videos on TheApple
- You can download the latest version of Flash Player from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
8. I forgot my password. How can I access my account?
- You can have your forgotten password e-mailed to you at anytime by clicking on the "Forgot Password?" link in the login screen
- Alternatively, you can use this link to have your password e-mailed to you
9. What is my reputation score and how can I improve it?
- You can view your current reputation score by clicking on "My Profile" at the top right hand corner of any page. Click on the Reputation tab to see your current score.
- You can earn more points by participating in the community through the activities listed in the table.
- Compare your score with the four top contributors shown on your Reputation page to know where you stand in the community.
10. How do I upload a video?
- The first step in uploading a video from your desktop is to visit the Video channel on TheApple.
- On the right of the page you will find "Submit Video."
- Choose a name and description for your video and click "next."
- If the video file is on your computer, the Video Egg window will open. Browse your computer for the video file and click "upload." The video may not be longer than 5 minutes. You can change the length of the video by editing it in this window.
- If you would like to share a video from another site, follow the directions for copying and pasting the URL of the video or the embedded links.
- Once the upload is complete, click "submit."
11. How can I change my user name?
- Click "My Profile" in the upper right hand corner of the home page.
- Click "Edit" next to your name.
- Change your login name to your desired choice.
- Once you click "Submit," the change has been made.
12. How can I change my profile picture?
- Click "My Profile" in the upper right hand corner of the home page.
- Click "Edit" next to your current (or blank) image.
- Browse for the file and select for your image.
- Once you click "Submit," the change has been made.
13. How can I find a scholarship?
- Go to TheApple Scholarship Finder
- Search for scholarships that meet your criteria.
14. How do I become a teacher?
- Visit our Become a Teacher Resource Center.
- Find all of the information you need to start your career in teaching.
15. How can I find information about becoming a certified teacher in each of the 50 United States?
- Go to 50 States Certification Requirements
- Click on the state you would like to teach in and read the requirements posted.
16. How can I find a job teaching in the United States?
- Go to TheApple Job Search
- Input the state or location you would like to find a job.
- Sort through jobs that meet your criteria and apply as necessary.
- Resumes should be sent directly to the employer listed- not to TheApple.
17. How do I register for TheApple if I do not have a U.S. zip code?
- If you do not live in the U.S., but would like to register, enter "000" as your zip code.
- Complete the registration process as directed.
18. How do I delete my account with TheApple?
- Please send a message from your account at TheApple to the "Editor" explaining why you want your account deleted and our team with process your request.
