I don't understand the reason the 50 states won't come together and agree on one standard when it comes to certifying teachers. The high school graduates can travel to any part of the country and can count on their high school diploma being recognized. The teachers who taught them are left out though.

Dear Amna,
I'm afraid you should have done a little research before enrolling in WIU. If you had done a simple "Google search", you would have discovered that WIU is unaccredited.
"Washington International University is an unaccredited institution of higher education founded in 1994 and currently incorporated in the British Virgin Islands. It describes itself as a "university without borders", serving clients from around the world via distance education. The university website states that WIU's graduates have come from 112 countries.
The name "Washington International University" is used in promotional materials for other unaccredited distance learning institutions. There are no known accredited institutions by this name, but at least three accredited Washington Universities exist: the University of Washington, Washington University and George Washington University."

I'm sorry to tell you that you have fallen victim to a "scam."

I am a ex-teacher/ trainer living in South Africa. Would like to train/ teach in the USA or Canada. Obviously a bit older and wiser, but would really like to get back into what I am best at. WHERE DO I START ?with certification, with whom, how and the list goes on.
